3 John
Introduction
The thoughts and note material given on these pages are only a possible suggestion of the meaning, they must not be taken as inspired, however they are prayerfully prepared and compared with other similar material. 3 John
WRITER. John the Apostle.
This letter by John allows us to see the activities of the early New Testament Church.
We meet Gaius, Diotrephes and Demetrius. Gaius is the church leader and the other two are members of this church, Diotrephes is causing problems. John used Demetrius as an example to the church.
Reason. This short letter was written to sort out a personality problem in the church.
The letter is broken up as follows:
Personal greetings. verses 1-4
Hospitality duties of the church. verses 5-8
Dangers of Pride. verses 9-12
